256-bit encryption
Phone numbers, names, and Instagram handles are stored under AES-256 encryption — never in plaintext. We compare salted hashes; the raw data is unreadable on our servers.

Silent until mutual
No SMS, push, email, or app interaction is sent to a person you add. They cannot detect that you’re interested.

Mutual unlock
Only when both sides have added each other does Sphere reveal the match — symmetrically, to both of you.

Quiet exit
Remove anyone from your watchlist anytime. If they hadn’t added you, no record of your interest ever existed elsewhere.

Our messaging policy, in plain language.
Sphere uses Twilio to deliver SMS messages strictly when you opt in. We will never message anyone you add to your watchlist — period.

What we send
Account verification codes, security alerts, mutual-match notifications (to you only), and — if you opt in — product updates. We do not send marketing SMS by default.

Opt-in & consent
You explicitly opt in during signup by entering your phone number and tapping “Send code.” Marketing messages require a second, separate opt-in inside Settings → Notifications.

Opt-out
Reply STOP to any Sphere SMS to unsubscribe immediately. Reply HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. Frequency varies; expect 1–3 messages per week max.

What we never do
We never SMS, call, or otherwise contact a person you have added to your watchlist. The people on your list are not stored as Sphere contacts and are not messaged.

What identifiers can I add?
A phone number (any country) or an Instagram handle. We hash both before they leave your device, so your watchlist is never readable on our servers.
Can I remove someone from my watchlist?
Yes, anytime. If they hadn’t added you back, removing them leaves no trace anywhere of your interest.
Do you use my contacts?
Only if you grant permission, and only to surface phone numbers you might want to add — never to upload your address book to our servers in cleartext.
Is Sphere a dating app?
Not exactly. Sphere is a mutual-curiosity layer for people who already know each other but haven’t made the first move. It’s used by daters, reconnecting friends, secret crushes, and discreet adults alike.
